Slice green tomatoes in thick slices.
Dry with toweling.
In one dish use egg, milk and a splash of soy sauce.
In another, use flour, salt and pepper to taste, dill
Dip the slices in first the wet and then dry mixtures
Repeat twice on each slice for a thicker coating.
Using a light layer of olive oil and a very hot pan, fast fry the tomato slices, turning only once. This discourages absorption of the oil.
Cool them on an open drain surface, screening, rack
Serve warm or cool.

I had a huge crush on you when we were both so much younger. I wasn’t alone. All my closest friends had the same crush. You and David Cassidy and other teeny bopper idols. We had posters of you on our bedroom walls and we crushed our way through each new hit record for a few years. You were cute and sang well and thrilled us.
Dude, now you’re a grandfather and sounding extremely grandfatherly when you cut other artists like Lady Gaga and Beyoncé down for a video they put out that’s, yes, controversial and yes, a bit violent and rough and so on. I know you grew up in a strict household and I imagine you raised your kids similarly. But sounding off about this video has only served to make you sound really old.
Besides, I’ve seen videos that show much more violence or undesirable activity than this one. Something’s up your pant leg, my friend. There is something below the surface in the donnybraintrust. What’s going on?
Something more is at work here. Not sure what it might be, but you really should start watching more real vids and not the ones that Wal-Mart produces. You might want to ensure you have some Tylenol handy for those headaches you’re likely to get once you realize what is in some of the vids the kids watch today. Reality checks can really make your head hurt.

Today’s Globe and Mail covers the black-dress-beast and her welcome in Calgary, unlike the many hundreds of protesters that showed up in Ottawa to oppose Coulter’s boarish and racist comments that find their way into her speeches and remarks. Ottawa made it clear that her presence there was not appreciated.
I don’t really want to write a post about Kanya West (the ass), or Patrick Swayze, god rest him. I don’t want to write about the Palin speech being closed to media (this shouldn’t surprise anyone), or the fact that Tina Fey got acknowledgement of her superb parody of the ex Alaskan governor*this shouldn’t surprise anyone either). I really don’t want to write anything about the Joe Wilson shout (yet another ass), and health care is a done subject for me (chaos in action)
I find myself without topic at the moment. What is a writer supposed to do without topic? Clearly that is an absurd question, as life offers up the most amazing buffet of topics to write about; a banquet of fodder. Yet I find myself not motivated by any of it.
A good friend of mine quit his job yesterday. He told me when he quit that all the anxiety and stress seemed to drain away and yet he felt badly about quitting…as though he’d done something wrong. The job was more for his fulfillment than money, so that wasn’t a big issue in deciding to quit.
I wrote back telling him that as far as I was concerned, the fact that all his stressful symptoms disappeared was a clear indication that his time there had come to an end. He wrote back, really getting it; motivated by his decision. That felt good. Too many people seem to be swimming in a quagmire of neutral feelings, numb from the exertion.
Yet, daily I read about or hear about people (friends and family included) who stopped swimming…stopped fighting the current and have found that the crap happening in their lives seems to melt away…taken with the current. Going with the flow is really the only choice ultimately. It’s soul exhaustion to try fighting it, as so many people do. Let go and Let God…that’s a favorite AA expression and it’s so true. With or without the god part, eventually we have to let go and know inside that it will all work out. The harder we fight the flow, the harder it gets. Letting go is a positive step.

Perhaps, those of us who see the birther movement for the absurd march to obscurity that it is, shouldn’t be so quick to want it to go away.
It’s obvious that Mr. Obama is smart enough to know that any response from him on this birth certificate circus, will only fuel the fundies and the fear mongering.
He cannot give it credence. He cannot acknowledge the absurdity of it.
So, while the idiocy rages on, it keeps the fundy focus off other REAL issues. Not a bad thing.
The birth certificate issue is only one of the rightwingnutjob agenda bullets. We have “issues” being presented here like how many assistants and people Mrs. Obama has on staff (yep, that snob who always closes his comments), and other interesting (not) problems they continue to have with the new president.
How can people who call themselves intelligent or sensible or logical in any way, find this birther issue anything but completely absurd?
I find two good reasons for lefties to leave them be… first, because it gets more bizarre as time goes by and second, because it provides some of the most entertaining fodder, since Sarah Palin stepped on stage.

Behold Bridezillas, a monstrosity reality show in which cameras follow brides as they prepare for their wedding day. The catch is that they recruit only the lowest of low, the crassest of crass crazies and the nastiest of nasty abusive bitches on the planet. I cannot even fathom the energy in one of their try-out sessions. These women fart venom. They are rude, obnoxious and nasty to their friends, relatives and especially the poor grooms. I genuinely feel sorry for the grooms.
Ah, but it’s about the ratings. This kind of crap draws viewers, disbelieving viewers who cannot conceive of anyone being that obnoxious.
Tonight’s episode features a bride named Karee…and omg she’s a disgrace to women everywhere. Abusive, big mouthed, obnoxious and rude. Just a few of the appropriate adjectives for this bitch. I don’t know any man in his right man who would volunteer to marry this woman.
Ah, but it’s about the ratings.
